Psychological and neuropsychological testing, interwoven with therapeutic technique — all in a warm, collaborative style.

Together, we’ll illuminate all the parts of you.

  • We base our testing process on a specific model called Therapeutic Assessment.

This model combines the tools of psychological and neuropsychological testing with psychotherapy techniques to help clients understand themselves better and begin a process of beneficial change.

In this approach, clients and clinicians collaborate together to:

    • identify questions about the challenges or difficulties clients are experiencing

    • explore answers to those questions through testing and therapeutic techniques, and

    • develop ideas together about how to use the information learned to improve clients’ lives

  • We offer 3 core evaluations, each tailored to address clients’ questions and concerns.

A neuropsychological evaluation helps to identify areas of strength and challenge within an individual’s set of cognitive (thinking-related) abilities.

This evaluation may be helpful if you have questions about:

    • verbal or visual processing

    • learning (“How does my child learn best?”)

    • intellectual ability

    • language

    • attention and executive functions (“Do I have ADHD?”)

    • memory

    • academic skills (“Why does my child struggle with math?”)

    • social understanding and interactions

A therapeutic-psychological evaluation can address an individual’s mood, behavior, personality, social relationship patterns, and emotional life.

This evaluation may be helpful if you want a better understanding of mental health, and have questions like:

    • “Why is my daughter so angry?”

    • “What is behind my difficulty in romatic relationships?”

    • “Does the way I feel and behave meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis? If so, what is it and what does it mean?”

An integrated evaluation is a combination of both neuropsychological and psychological testing.

This type of evaluation aims to answer questions about both an individual’s cognitive skills and their emotional-psychological life, as well as how they influence one another. This evaluation is often useful when questions or history are very complex.

We will help you decide which evaluation is best suited for your questions.

  • Insurance companies tend to cover only a limited number of testing sessions, which restricts our ability to provide the kind of quality and comprehensive clinical care we aspire to. Therefore, Northlight Neuropsychology is not in-network with any insurance carriers. We can give you a superbill of services provided upon request, which you can submit to your insurance and may result in out-of-network benefits being reimbursed directly to you, depending on the terms of your plan. We are not able to guarantee out-of-network benefits.

We operate on a flat-fee model, in which all services and sessions are included in the cost of the evaluation. Any additional charges will be charged at the rate of $250/hour and discussed with you first to ensure transparency, permission and a clear understanding of charges.

    • Therapeutic-Psychological Evaluation: $2500

    • Neuropsychological Evaluation: $3000

    • Integrated Evaluation: $5000

Payment can be made by cash, check or IvyPay, which sends a secure link by text for payment by credit card. All clients are required to have a credit card on file.

We request 50% of the fee upfront, and the remaining 50% is due after testing is complete.

  • We value a thoughtful and deliberate approach to assessment that allows each client to work at their own pace, stop and ask questions along the way, discuss observations, and process reactions and experiences that arise over the course of testing.

Steps in our assessment process are outlined in more detail below.

The Assessment Process

  • 1. Consultation Call

We’ll discuss what you’re looking for, what type of evaluation might be best for your situation, and any initial questions you have about the process.

  • 2. Intake

We’ll discuss your history in more detail, identify the Assessment Questions you’d like answered by the evaluation, and review any logistical details for the upcoming testing and exploration sessions.

  • 3. Testing + Exploration Sessions

The number and length of these sessions varies by evaluation type.

During these sessions, we’ll spend time completing testing tasks, discussing them, and exploring how they might help answer your Assessment Questions.

  • 4. Summary + Findings Session

During this session we’ll review what we’ve learned through the testing and exploration phase and discuss how it applies to you and your Assessment Questions.

  • 5. Written Report

The timeline for receiving your final report can vary depending on the length and complexity of the evaluation. We will work together to develop a document that accurately reflects you, the test results, and the answers to your Assessment Questions. The report will also provide recommendations and resources based on test findings and our work together.

  • 6. Optional Follow-up Session

If you choose, a final follow-up session can be scheduled several weeks after you receive the report. During this session we can re-review the findings, discuss the overall process of the evaluation and its impact on you, and check-in on how any of the recommendations we discussed are proving helpful to you.
